Amazon Web Services (AWS) “managed blockchain” service now supports Ethereum out of the box, some two years after the integration was first hinted at in 2018.

“With this launch, AWS customers can easily provision Ethereum nodes in minutes and connect to the public Ethereum main network and test networks such as Rinkeby and Ropsten,” AWS said in a blog post Tuesday. “With Amazon Managed Blockchain, customers get secure networking, encryption at rest and transport, secure access to the network via standard open-source Ethereum APIs, fast and reliable syncs to the Ethereum blockchain, and durable elastic storage for ledger data.”

PayPal buys Curv for Crypto Custody

PayPal is said to be in the process of buying Curv, a technology firm that powers the secure storage of cryptocurrency, according to three sources familiar with the situation.

“PayPal is buying Curv for $500 million,” a source from within the digital asset custody space told CoinDesk on Monday. “From where I’m hearing it, I’m pretty sure it’s true.”

Thailand plans to introduce new rules to curb individuals’ cryptocurrency trading after a surge in inflows from young people sparked concern from regulators.

Retail investors will probably be required to show their income or assets before opening trading accounts with the nation’s six licensed cryptocurrency exchanges, said Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol, the secretary general of the Securities & Exchange Commission. Anyone who isn’t allowed to trade crypto via their own accounts can invest through licensed fund managers or financial advisers, she said, declining to elaborate.
